There are two major ways of obtaining/collecting a pet. The first option is by summoning, where you can obtain a random egg by consuming a specific amount of DPET tokens. The second option is via auction. A new pet is born every hour, so you can always bid pets with your DPET tokens, and the bidding lasts for 24 hours.

You can breed pets in My DeFi Pet game to create new offspring. These offspring inherit the body parts (body type, tail, wings, etc.) of their parents. There is also a probability of the offspring developing unique body parts, different from that of their parents. Pets can also evolve, and each pet has certain evolution levels and capabilities, which depends on its rarity. As a player, you can also level up your pets by feeding them DPET tokens.
